Are you feeling (slide)lucky?

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

slpsCasey Kelbaugh and Nick Nichols have a thing or two in common. They both take pictures. And they both have created organizations that bring photographers together. Twenty-one years ago Nick started bringing friends to his backyard to share pictures and stories. Today it has bloomed into LOOK3. Casey started Slideluck Potshow a few years ago in his NYC “backyard” and since then he has traveled all around the world, starting up SLPS projection nights from Barcelona to New York to Rio de Janeiro. This summer in Perpignan at Visa Pour L’image, Casey and a few of us from LOOK3 got together to hash out a plan to work together in the future. Now we’re bringing SLPS to Charlottesville and giving LOOK3 attendees one more venue to show their own work. (And one more excuse to have a beer).

On Thursday night June 11, once we all get out of Sylvia Plachy’s show with Melissa Harris (7-9pm) people can head over to Rapture Restaurant (2 doors down) for a beer and some free food. At 10pm, the lights go down and the 1st ever SLPS Charlottesville begins. Attendance should be solid…no less than 300 people. So submit your photo essays!

Casey and Co. are currently seeking cohesive, creative, and thought-provoking submissions for anyone who will be attending the LOOK3 Festival. Deadline is May 25, 2009!! More info here and here.
